Invest in Kainuu

Invest in Kainuu brings any potential investors and the investment objects of the region together by means of the already established invest in process. DIHYTE focuses on digitalisation in the health and well-being sector while KAVIO Cluster creates physical preparedness and a sparring network for developing business templates and new companies in the field of games. The next step is the growth of the branch and orientation towards Serious Gaming activities by establishing a centre of know-how for utility games.

Developing Data Centre Branch

CSC - Tieteen tietotekniikan keskus Oy* founded the first data centre in Kajaani, thus being the pioneer in the development of the Kajaani data centre branch. Jukka-Pekka Partanen, the manager of the CSC data centre, says that Kainuun Etu was the central actor in attracting the CSC investment in the region.

"The eco-system of the branch is constantly developing, and that is why we are well-satisfied with our investment decision. We will work together with Invest in Kainuu in order to make the branch grow further in Kainuu and in Finland"

The modular data centre of CSC, the common cost and the energy efficient computer hall of the Finnish universities, is located in the premises which earlier housed the paper mill of UPM Kajaani. The most efficient calculation environment in the Nordic countries is now available to Finnish researchers, as well as the world-class calculation efficiency enabling scientific breakthroughs. The operations of CSC grow and develop in Kajaani. Several further investments have already been done. The operation of the data centres has strengthened and safe-guarded education in Kainuu.
